“They were on the field for almost two days and were naturally tired. So it wouldn’t have been easy for them to come out and start playing shots and stay further on the field. So our plan was to score quickly and declare as soon as possible,” he added.
“I look to improve my game every single time I play for India. When I get an opportunity to score runs, I look to implement that opportunity in performance and so yeah, all in all, I am very much happy,” he said.

Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 as India declared their first innings at 574/8 against Sri Lanka on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test before scalping three wickets of visitors here at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Saturday.
After the stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka’s score read 108/4 as they are trailing India by 466 runs. For Lankans Pathum Nissanka (26*) and Charith Asalanka (1*) are still at the crease while for hosts Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja bagged one wicket each. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick among the bowlers for hosts as he scalped two wickets.
Coming to bat in the third session, Sri Lanka enjoyed a firm start as they frustrated Indian bowlers thoroughly. But in the 19th over, veteran spinner Ashwin drew the first blood for India as he trapped Lahiru Thirimanne in front of wickets for LBW.

Nissanka battles some early nerves and had a reprieve to stay at the crease, and was joined in by Charith Asalanka, and the duo will hope to bat time and keep the scoreboard ticking and reduce the deficit as much as they can. On Day 1, Rishabh Pant and Hanuma starred as India scored a massive 357/6 at Stumps. Rishabh Pant once again came to the rescue of his side after the top order suddenly experienced a collapse when Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer departed within a span of a few overs.
