IPL 2022: Hardik Pandya to attend NCA camp – Hardik Pandya has finally decided to pay heed to the selectors’ call after ignoring the advice to check into the NCA. After receiving stern warning from selectors, the flamboyant all-rounder has decided to join the 10-day fitness camp in Bengaluru’s NCA ahead of IPL 2022. “Yes, Hardik will join the camp. He was not part of the players called up for the camp earlier as he did not give us any update on his recovery progress. But as the selectors want him to keep in the mix for the South Africa series, he has been added to the list. He will join the camp on Tuesday,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

After receiving a call from the chairman of the selection committee, Hardik Pandya decided to make a U-turn in this regard. Hardik will now attend the camp which is already underway, and the NCA will have a chance to assess his progress from the back injury. If all go well and Hardik makes an impressive return in IPL 2022, he could be called up for the five-match T20 series against South Africa in June.

Last week, the BCCI informed 25 players including Ishan Kishan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer to report to the NCA by March 4 with the camp set to begin today (March 5). The 10-day camp will be conducted under the watchful eyes of NCA director VVS Laxman and his staff. However, Hardik’s brother Krunal Pandya was not asked to report to the NCA.The camp was exclusively extended to the cricketers who are being monitored by selectors for future India assignments. They will leave the camp on March 15 and join their respective franchises. Deepak Chahar who is still recovering from a torn quadriceps will not be part of the camp.
