Christian Pulisic should ‘knock on the managers door’ after POOR Chelsea performance says Mustoe

Christian Pulisic should ‘knock on the manager’s door’ and ask to start after Chelsea’s poor attacking performance in 1-0 win says NBC’s Robbie Mustoe… but Thomas Tuchel hints at MORE signings

  • A penalty scored by Jorginho in first half stoppage time was all to be had
  • Despite a great effort on the wings from Sterling, strikers suffered
  • Chelsea are linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as transfer window ends
  • Tuchel hinted they ‘are on it’ in the transfer window but wouldn’t give specifics

If there was ever such a thing as a bad win, it would come in the form of the 1-0 win Chelsea scrapped to claim at Everton.

Goodison Park didn’t see many accurate attacking chances from either side, as the game was dragged on by injuries and incidents both on and off the pitch.

The two sides combined for 10 shots on target and the home team failed to produce any big chances.

Up front for Chelsea, Kai Havertz failed to make a big enough impact on the game and attacking support from Mason Mount was unremarkable.

When Mount was swapped for American Christian Pulisic, there seemed to be a change in momentum and energy in the squad that left some calling for his installation in the starting XI.

NBC’s Robbie Mustoe advocated for his inclusion after the match.

‘Pulisic comes into the game looks lively, looks sharp,’ Mustoe commented.

‘He should be knocking on the door of the manager saying “how about giving me a go?” These other guys have had a lot of opportunities of late.’

The lack of a clear solution at striker was highlighted by this match and manager Thomas Tuchel suggested more players should be added to the team.

‘I think we could use new energy and new legs and fresh input to bring us to a new level. If not, then we will push this team, but think we could use some more input and some more quality,’ Tuchel told reporters after the game

He slyly added, ‘We are on it but we will not tell you.’

Chelsea have been linked with Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the former Arsenal man taking a backseat to Robert Lewandowski.

Aubameyang and Tuchel are familiar with each other from their shared time together at Borussia Dortmund.
