Brentford have approached Bologna for £18m Scotland international defender Aaron Hickey amid interest from Napoli, Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa
Brentford have made an official approach to Bologna for Scotland international defender Aaron Hickey.
Sportsmail reported on the English Premier League side’s plans for an £18million bid in April.
A starter in last week’s World Cup play-off defeat to Ukraine, 20-year-old Hickey is also a target for Serie A giants Napoli.

Hickey made a £1.5m move from Hearts to Bologna in September 2020 despite a rival offer from Bayern Munich.
Since then, the full-back has played more first-team minutes than any other teenager currently plying his trade in a major league, with Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa also credited with an interest.
Should a move go through it is understood Hearts will earn a fixed fee less than they might have raked in had they negotiated for a percentage of the sale proceeds.
Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa have all also shown an interest in the young full-back
After recent months running scouting checks and speaking to former managers of the ex-Hearts defender, however, Brentford remain the frontrunners for his signature.
Hickey won Bologna’s Golden Boy award in his first season with the club and has continued to improve this season, picking up five goals from 34 league appearances.
Bees boss Thomas Frank sees Hickey as a good target to help bolster his squad to have an improved Premier League season.
