Australia vs England – Ashes: Live score and updates from Day Five of the second Test

Ashes Day Five LIVE: Australia need just six wickets to secure another dominant win and move 2-0 up in the Ashes… with England hoping for a miracle in Adelaide

England are all but beaten heading into the final day of the second Ashes Test at Adelaide, with Joe Root’s side needing a miracle of greater proportions than Headingley 2019 to avoid going 2-0 down.

The hero from that day, Ben Stokes, is at the crease but with England four wickets down there is not much batting left after Joe Root was caught behind off the bowling of Mitchell Starc with the final ball of day four.

Ollie Pope will join Stokes at the crease at the start of the day, with both the Surrey youngster and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler in desperate need of runs to keep their places heading into the third Test starting on Boxing Day.
