Sustainability in sneakers has taken precedence in recent years, and it seems that every name brand can’t help but be vocal about their respective initiatives. ASICS, however, has been comparatively quiet, though don’t take that for a lack of effort, as the Japanese label is reducing their own carbon footprint by repurposing scraps and limiting their use of chemicals and dyes. This newly surfaced GEL-LYTE III is proof of their labor, and an example of how best to incorporate recycled materials.
Though made up of leftover scraps, the upper’s colorway still appears rather intentional. The “Hunter Green” that outfits the toe box and mid-panel are a perfect fit for the purple that wraps both the heel and lace unit. Even the pop of yellow is not at all out of place, as it serves as a complement to both of the aforementioned colors.
Enjoy a close-up look at this GEL-LYTE III right here. If you’re interested in picking up a pair, they’re currently making their way to select retailers.
In other news, a navy New Balance 990v6 was just unveiled.
