Kohli’s fine show did not prove to be enough as India bowed out in the Super 4 stage of the competition. However, this Asia Cup will be remembered by Indian fans for Kohli returning to form. He even scored his first international ton after 1020 days.

As far as the Indian batters ranking goes it is Suryakumar Yadav at the top. He is number four in the ICC ranking. He is the sole representative in terms of top ten batters in the shorter format. Rohit Sharma is 14 while Kohli is number 15 in the list.

Amongst the top movers in the batters, it was Kohli. But another Indian opener KL Rahul also fared well. He moved seven places higher, taking the 23rd spot in the latest rankings. It is interesting to note Rahul is also making a comeback into international cricket. The Asia Cup and the Zimbabwe series are the only two competitive series he has played after the IPL.

Meanwhile, it was joy for Hasaranga, who played an integral role in Sri Lnka’s win in the Asia Cup. In fact, the leg-spinner won the player of the series, which was an icing on the cake.

The Sri Lanka all-rounder picked up nine wickets for the tournament – including three in the final against Pakistan – and his form was a major reason why the island nation was able to claim a sixth Asia Cup title. The spinner has a good chance of going to the top of the list.

For that to happen, Hasaranga needs to be at his menacing best in Australia. Mind you, the conditions in Australia assist the pacers more. Hence, taking wickets is not going to be as it was in UAE, where the spinners also got some help.
